Asoke - Rama 9

The area defined by the MRT (subway) Petchaburi Road, Rama 9 and Thailand Cultural Center Stations and the Airport Rail Link interchange at Asoke is home mainly to middle- and high-income Thais, and Chinese and Korean expatriates.

Among many great restaurants in the area are Real Ichi Yakiniku & Sushi (Japanese BBQ), Shibuya Shabu, Rama 9, Gindaco (Takoyaki), Nan Yuan (dim sum), Fufu Shabu (Taiwanese Mala Shabu), Dal Dal (Korean), Manee Mee More (Thai-style shabu), Ruean Mae Louis (southern Thai) and Khun Tong 2020 (Thai barbecue).

Royal City Avenue (RCA) on Petchaburi Road is a popular nightclub destination. More clubs may be found at Ratchadapisek Soi 4. Also recommended is Fatty's Bar & Diner. Further north on Ratchada Road are several exotic massage parlors.

The area's main shopping malls are Central Plaza Grand Rama 9, Fortune Tower, an IT mall with a Tesco Lotus, The Shoppes at Belle Grand Rama 9 with a Villa Supermarket, The Street Ratchada and The Esplanade Ratchada. Big C Extra is on Ratchadapisek Road. The New Rot Fai Market sells a variety of goods. Ratchada Night Bazaar is especially noted for used goods. Terminal 21 is easily reached via MRT.

Thailand Cultural Center presents a variety of programs. Siam Niramit Theatre features the culture and history of Thailand. Art In Paradise is a 3D art museum with paintings by South Korean artists. For physical activities, try Sub Zero Ice Skate Club at The Esplanade or Bounce Thailand trampoline park at The Street Ratchada. There's a Fitness First at Central Plaza Grand Rama 9, Fitness First Platinum at AIA Capital Center, Absolute You at G Tower and Agaligo Yoga at The Shoppes at Belle Grand Rama 9.

Neighborhood churches include St. Don Bosco Catholic Church, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and Nexus Christian Church. A Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is nearby.

Neighborhood schools include St. Dominic School, Wattana Wittaya Academy, KIS International School, SISB International School, Regent’s International School Bangkok, Don Bosco Institute of Technology and University of Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Rama 9 Hospital and Bangkok Hospital offer primary medical care. Also nearby are Rutnin Eye Hospital and Asoke Skin Hospital.
